Margaret and Bill,
I just heard.  My prayers will be with you, celebrating the legacy of your son's life and the joy he brought you.

From the time he was an infant, Billy was someone very special.  I should know, I was Margaret's babysitter when she went back to work after having Billy.  I looked after both boys, Rick and Billy.  That was a special time for all of us.  It gave us an opportunity to truly bond with our Grandsons.  I remember how Billy would love to pile up all the sofa cushions and then jump on them when he was a toddler.  He'd say, come on Grandma, jump!  What fun we had!   

When Billy was grown, he was such a thoughtful and kind person.  He took great pride in helping me with my lawn and other maintenance at my house.  He was certainly a hard worker and strong!  He always had a kind word for everyone and he was a true gentleman.  I remember this past Christmas how he flattered me by telling me how pretty I looked.  He always put a smile on my face and I will miss him so much.  I know Billy is in God's hands and experiencing the peace and happiness of life everlasting.

At his core, my brother Billy was a lover of life and a source of infinite pleasure and amusement to others, a true falstaffian. He had his challenges, to be sure, but his best and most genuine self was a person of great kindness and generosity of spirit.  That was the person I encountered during the months preceding his death.  Nothing can provide full consolation after such a loss, but it is some small comfort to have witnessed what appeared to be Billy at his happiest.  I miss him greatly.

Dear Bill, Margaret and Rick,
I wanted to tell you about a nice visit I shared with my grandson, Billy, that showed his kindness and love of family. During our talk, he volunteered to do some yard work for me and stated, "no payment, granddad, just want to help you out".  I think of him daily, and he will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Our love will go on forever for Billy, our nephew.  Billy was gifted with one of the warmest hearts a human can have.  Recently, while taking our really old and large dog on a walk down the street Billy came out to visit his Aunt Kat and Beau.  He noticed that Beau, was limping due to his arthritis.  He asked Kathy if she would like for him to carry him home for her.  Yes, this is a life that exemplified kindness....A life that loved family....A life that loved all animals great and small....A life that loved music....A life that love the challenges of football....A life that he wanted to devote to serving families through a career in Social Services.  He once told me he recognized the monetary compensation would be small, but the joy of helping others would make up for it.
Yes, Billy's passing has left us with a void we cannot fill.  We resolve to cherish his memory and all of the wonderful time we enjoyed together.  We will take comfort in knowing that we will all reunite one day as a family.  
We want Bill, Margaret and Rick to know that we will miss him too,  Our hearts and prayers are with you at the most difficult time.
May we all take Billy's caring spirit within each of us forever.

7.For all our deceased brothers and sisters who died in the hope of rising again, especially for Billy’s grandfather, Rozier, and grandmother, Doris, may they know the joys of eternal life with the blessed who died in Christ, we pray:

We love our nephew, Billy, and his untimely passing will never diminish that emotion.  His gentle heart and shyness, or as his parents describe so accurately, his huge heart, will forever remain with our family.  We remember the "boys", Billy, Rick and Daniel, having so much fun in their youth playing together.  One time while listening to some music at our house, they ran around locating items to be used as guitars.  It was quite a sight seeing the three cousins perform on a bench in the living room with brooms, etc. for instruments.  Rather imaginative, we thought. We are steadfast in our belief that one day, at another time and place, Billy's soul will again be reunited with us all.  Until then, dear Billy, know that you are deeply loved and forever missed.

     I was Billy's 8th Grade English teacher at BSH.  I remember him fondly as being smart, quick-witted, and fun-loving.

Billy was a big boy with a huge heart.  He was a warm, caring and loving person. He was as strong as an ox but could be as gentle as a lamb.  He was easy to be with, never judgmental, always caring.  Billy loved life and dearly loved his family.  He would not want us to be sad but, of course, we are because someone with such a charismatic character leaves quite a void.  But, let's take comfort in the fact that Billy loved well and knew that he was loved!  Let's celebrate the fact that Billy lived life to the fullest during his 25 years.  Billy truly taught us so much--to be more humble, caring and loving people--and, he's still teaching us--with the suddenness of his death we must all take the time to realize life on this earth is fleeting. No doubt, this has to be the most difficult time of your life and words of comfort hopefully will help in some small way.  Although, we have not met, please accept my condolencies for your loss. He told me to read Vonnegut, to listen to The Clash, and to play racquetball. I remember partaking of all three, often simultaneously, with Billy.

He was quick-witted, intense, and irreverent, brilliantly energetic and well prepared to point out the nonsense in everyday life for what it was. I can think of no higher compliment, but he probably deserves one. A punk-rock Voltaire born too late or too soon, maybe, and certainly a friend. 

My father told me Billy called, meaning that he probably used our high school directory to do it as we had not spoken in several years. I was out of the country and so I could not speak to him on the evening of January 31st- needless to say, I regret not being there to take the call.
