Surrounded by family, William Henry Jenkins, III (“Bill”) passed away in his home in Midlothian, Virginia, on September 4, 2026. He is predeceased by his parents, William H. and Mildred W. Jenkins, sister, Emily Jenkins Cardoza, and brothers-in-law Buddy Allen and Billy Bokkon. Born on October 15, 1951 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, his family relocated to Richmond where Bill met the love of his life, Sue Southall, at Henrico High School. The two attended North Carolina State University together, and Bill graduated in 1974 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He soon discovered that he had an aptitude for building, running a business, and managing construction projects of any size. Throughout the course of his career, Bill built numerous homes, commercial buildings, and active living communities in Richmond and the surrounding area.
Bill was well known for his big heart and generosity of time and talent. He mentored multiple young employees who, to this day, apply the skills he taught them in their professional lives. Whether helping with renovation projects, coaching youth soccer, teaching Sunday school, or helping countless friends and family with projects, he always stepped up to help. Bill’s greatest source of pride, however, was his family. Bill and Sue were married on December 21, 1974 and raised their children in Midlothian. The couple enjoyed intense political discussions, great food, entertaining family and friends, and vacationing at the beach with their grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue Southall Jenkins; children Whitney Fogg (John), Katie Jurewicz (Jeff), and Daniel Jenkins (Rochelle); grandchildren Jackson, William, Madeline, Joseph, Beau and Sophie; sisters-in-law Faye Bokkon and Ann Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on September 13 at 12:30 at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel, with a Celebration of Life Luncheon to follow at Independence Golf Club.
