Steve spent most of his childhood in Ada, Oklahoma, moving to Moore, Oklahoma in 1971. After high school Steve attended broadcasting school and then went on to enjoy a career in radio broadcasting. He worked at various stations including KNOR, KLPR, KOMA, KMGL, KYIS, and KATT. He loved his work and had the “big voice” and personality to do it very well.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a good story to tell. He loved being around people and always kept everyone entertained. He never met a stranger.
For the last few years he had been burdened with health issues and struggled with them. His struggles are now over and he can be free of them. No more pain, no more sorrow. Steve attended the Christ Center for over thirty-five years and there he found joy, comfort and peace with his Church family.
He is survived by his daughter Jessica Tyson Salkeld and son-in-law Lindsey, two grandchildren Evalie and Jackson, mother Joyce Legg, sister Joycelyn Raper, brother-in-law Charles Raper, nephew Kalon Wiggins, and very special, long-time friends Luther and Linda Pulliam and family, Debbie and Larry Henry, Theresa Sanders and family, Billy and Pegge Butenhoff and many others. A private memorial service will be held on April 5.
