

Arvil was born in Provo, UT on September 24, 1921 to Glen William and Ida Laprele Strong Banks. He graduated from Provo High and later from BYU.
Arvil served an LDS mission to the Eastern States. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge, Central Europe, and Rhineland. He married Dawna Irene Sorenson on September 11, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.
One of the many great joys in Arvil's life was working with and teaching children as an Elementary School Teacher, a scout leader, and also in church youth groups. He was also a baker and a sheet metal worker. He loved to garden, tinker, and make gadgets. He was kind, always helping neighbors. He was a true and loving man to his wife and children. Arvil held several positions within the LDS church.
Arvil is survived by his wife Dawna Irene, children Chris (Lois), Alan (Lori), Dale, and Evan; brother Ray (Winona) Banks; 5 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Beth, daughter Loraine, and granddaughter Alida Mai Dalton.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10 AM at the Imperial 1st LDS Ward located at 2738 Filmore Street (1550 East) with a visitation 1 hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Provo City Cemetery.
