Betty Rufener

1924 to 2011

Betty was born to Gerard B. & Paula D. Denkers on September 29, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from West High School in 1941. She met the love of her life William L. Rufener in June of 1941. William and Betty were engaged September 29, 1941 and were married on February 15, 1947 following World War II. They were later sealed in the Bountiful LDS Temple. They had 3 children Claudia J (deceased), Michael W and Edward L. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, grandson, sister, and 3 brothers. Survivors include Michael (Suzanne), Edward (Debbie), 8 grandchildren, 11 1/2 great grandchildren and Carol Gustafson (sister). She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved her calling in Junior Sunday School and Primary, where she was known as Sister Betty. She is loved and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held on January 15, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Heights Ward, 601 East Mansfield Avenue, South Salt Lake City. There will be a viewing on January 14, 2011 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive from 6 to 8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the services at the ward.
