Betty was born 23 February, 1922 in Ogden, Utah to Edward Logan Carter and Dessie Alice Colt. She passed peacefully at home on Feb 5, 2016 surrounded by love and her loyal dog Meg. Betty married Robert L. Salmon, Jr. on June 17, 1942. He proceeded her in death. Our mother, grandmother and “super grandma” was gracious, generous, and loved beautiful things, places and people. She loved every living thing (except snails) and never met a dog she didn’t like. In Heaven, besides her loved ones gone before, every dog she ever loved will run to greet her. She was an avid reader, sometimes reading a book a night. She passed with a book in hand. Betty was fiercely independent and lived and died in the home she owned. The family is so grateful to Betty’s granddaughter Alison and grandson-in-law Jason who made that lifelong wish a reality for Betty. Betty loved a good game of cards and was the “champion of the champions”. Golf was another special love. She and Bob were charter members of Willow Creek Country Club. She was especially pleased with her hole-in-one and the fact that she won the opportunity one year to play in a tournament at Doral Country Club. Two dreams come true. Betty was extremely superstitious, a trait she inherited from her grandmother. She liked Chinese food just for the fortune cookies, never stepped on a crack or put a hat on a bed. She was for many years a pink lady at the St. Mark’s hospital. She was also a breast cancer survivor. Betty was gentle and kind and always proper but her family knew the power of her “raised eyebrow”. Betty is survived by her son, Steven (Kathy), daughter, Claudia (Howard) Anderson, grandchildren, Alison (Jason) Knight, Melissa (Jeff) Roper, and Ryan Anderson (Maria Kokiasmenos). Also survived by her “super” great grandchildren, Khloe Knight, Rylee, Mason and Morgan Roper, George and Violet Anderson. A very special thank you to Alison and Jason for the many years they devoted to Betty’s care, comfort and dignity. The family also wishes to thank Kellie from Tender Care, Kerry and the VALEO Hospice team, with special thanks to Heidi for her love and support. Visitation at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr. Salt Lake City, UT Saturday, February 13 at 9:00am. Graveside service to follow at 10:00am.
