Dear Florine and family,  We were sorry to hear of Birge's passing.  We were out of town for his memorial.  Bud and Birge were close through law school and had high regards for each other. Ursula and I send our love to you at this time.  We have been away from Utah now for 24 years.  I remember well Birge coming to our office and selling us a CENTURY 21 franchise.  It was a life changer. We enjoyed working with you also those 2 years in Salt Lake before our move to Chicago. God bless you and your family in the coming months and years.

 I am a complete stranger to you all,but I wanted to say thank you for Birge's service to our great nation during WWII. I do this because I too are a veteran of the Army that fought and survived Vietnam. All the men/women that served at this time will forever have my thanks for what they have done and I'm happy that Birge had a long loving life to the end.

Dear Florine and family,

Birge was like a second father to me, after having lost my own dad early in life.  He was smart, engaging and fiercely loyal.  I will remember him always as a true gentleman and loving human being.  He lived a full, long life which he cherished as he did all of you.  I know because he told me so the last time I had the honor of being a guest at his home.

Dear Couzin Birge:

It has been a great privilege being your first cousin during our long journey through mortality. If you had stayed in Colorado, like I did, we would have been able to see each other more often. I am thankful that we got to say our "goodbyes" at the VA hospital in October 2009--thanks to the efforts of our mutual cousin Alice Telford. 

Be sure to save me a place near you on the other side of the pearly gates so that we can once again have a "cousinly relationship" during the eternities. But don't count on seeing me soon because I don't have my affairs in order just yet.  

One of the things that I remember most is when you hosted me at your home when I flew into Denver, CO, in 1962. I was washing my hands in the bathroom, using one of the little guest soaps that were displayed  in a little bowl. Mark was watching and he yelled out to Florine, "Is  Cousin David a guest?"  It was evident that he was told that these little bars of soap were only for guests. We laughed about this when we last visited. 

I hope you left a big tip for those great nurses at the VA hospital before you checked out because they took a lot of guff from you.

Dear Florine, Mark and Diane,
It is with sadness that I learned of the passing of your loving husband and caring father.  Birge was a fine and gentle man, who in the limited time I knew him was thoughtful and continually interested in my family. I fondly remember the stories of his Kaysville childhood and of his life with you.  The stories of chasing Tor and Weegen down the drive into the back yard, and the meals and chats with family are fond memories.  Heavenly Father has a place for Birge in his many Mansions, and we all, if we endure to the end, will be with him again.  It will be a fine and joyful reunion, indeed. With love, hugs and a knowledge that He knows your sorrow and will be your Comforter for Eternity, I am always yours...Paul
