February 2, 1961- September 13, 2018
Brent Farr was born on Ground Hog Day 1961 and hit the ground running. His parents are Aaron and Mona Farr and he is the 4th of 5 children; Susan, Lance, Stacey and Teresa. He valiantly finished his final endurance race on Thursday September 13, 2018 leaving the world a better place for having been here.
Brent had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was often referred to as the class clown in school over the years. He later used his wit and charm to become quite the salesman. He also used it at Cottonwood High School to get a date with Colleen Sevy. They played tennis on their first date and he lost to her (She's pretty sure he let her win). They were married on December 15,1982 in the Jordan River Temple. Brent loved to tell people that they had been married for 35 looong years and that always got a laugh. He also loved to tell people about his 2 children, Amy (32) and Thomas (28) He loved being a dad and has always been so proud of them. He passed his love of running on to Amy and taught Thomas to be a top notch salesman. Brent also loved being a grandpa to his 3 beautiful granddaughters, Hayden (6), Lucy (3) and Millie (1).
Brent was physically very strong and disciplined when it came to his biking and running. He biked for years and later took up trail running. He competed in many endurance races in both sports.
Brent was affectionately known as Mr. Clean. He showered multiple times a day and always wore nice clothes which explains why scout camps were not his favorite thing. He also loved music, washing his car, fishing with his kids, watching TV and being a loving dad and husband.
The past 15 years since his brain injury have been a challenge that Brent met with strength and courage and in turn that made him an inspiration to so many people. Brent's passion was to share the story of his drug addiction and overdose which left him with severe brain damage. For the past 13 years Brent and Colleen have gone to Einstein Bagels every morning at 9:00 a.m. He would have shared his story with every single person that walked through their doors if we let him. He wanted to warn others of the possibility that you can overdose and live, being left with the consequences. Every day on the way home he would say "I helped a lot of people today".
His wish is that we will all share his story with someone we love and keep his legacy alive. To see Brents KSL video go to: www.bit.ly/BrentKSL and to see Brent explain his injury to Bonneville Jr. High students go to: www.bit.ly/BrentBJHS
There are so many people to thank that have helped us all through this journey.
Our "bagel family" and the many friends that came there to see Brent, you "made his day". He spent the last 3 months at Sandy Health and Rehab and we cannot thank them enough for their care and kindness to all of us. They went to such great lengths to keep Brent comfortable and happy. A huge thank you to Inspiration Hospice for their tender care. Wendy, Luis and Steve have been our angels here on earth this past year.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 18, 2018 at the church at 1160 E. Vine Street in Salt Lake. The family will meet with friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the church and again Tuesday morning from 10-10:45 prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brent Farr Memorial Fund, to help with medical expenses, at any Wells Fargo Bank.
