A wonderful reunion took place in heaven on June 3, 2026. Carolyn Carter Self was reunited with her parents (Alma DeVier Carter and Wilma Dora Hansen Carter) her siblings (Delvar Ray Carter, Sherlene Carter Bloomquist, William Devier Carter, and Gary Wayne Carter), her angel baby (Keith Daniel) and her beloved animals Ping, Betsy, Tori, Duke, Ginger, Maxine, and Roxie.
Carolyn attended both BYU and the University of Utah, obtaining a bachelor’s degree. After college, she worked in public health and thoroughly enjoyed it. In January 1967, she married Harvey Richard Self in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She then devoted her life to her family. Despite the heartbreak of losing one baby too soon and starting over after divorce, she raised her children — Harvey (Veralyn) Self, Spencer (Stefani) Self, Jennifer (Mike) Swenson and David (Priscilla) Self — and she provided for them with unwavering strength, resourcefulness, and love. She was a wonderful grandmother to 16 grandchildren, each of whom adored her, and she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great grandchild.
As an aunt, Carolyn offered the same warmth and generosity she gave her own children, becoming a beloved presence in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She adored all of them.
What began as an LDS Mission to Australia sparked her love of travel. She embraced every opportunity to see the world with curiosity and joy. No matter where she went, her heart was always with her family. Carolyn was known for her warmth, her steadiness, and her ability to make every person in her life feel cared for. She was the kind of grandmother who showed up, who listened, who remembered the little things — the kind whose presence made everything feel safe.
Carolyn’s legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the memories she created, and the love she gave so freely.
The family would like to thank Keesha and the staff of Beehive Homes of Draper, Marianna and the staff of Dignity Home Health and Hospice, for their kind, loving care in the last weeks of her life. Marianna provided exceptional care and kindness. Kiesha was a fierce advocate and a bright light for Carolyn.
