Chad packed so much into his 28 years that you might wonder if he knew he only had a short time to fit it all in. He debated his way across the state, served a mission in Ohio, worked on movies that made it to Sundance, lived in Mongolia and made friends from all over the world. We never would have guessed that the little kid that would sit down to get out of the van would fly to the other side of the world to work on setting up a new mine in the middle of the Gobi desert. While he may have gotten adventurous about where he lived, he was still all about safety first. He would be the first to point out that you should probably be wearing a safety harness while climbing the step ladder.
What other little kid but Chad would have a signature color (orange) and a signature catalog (OfficeMax)? The kid loved pens and office supplies almost as much as Playmobil and Legos. His specific tastes continued through adulthood including his favorite band (Sister Hazel), clothing line (Carhartt), and signature pattern (plaid).
Just like the lights he loved to work with on movie sets, Chad brought light to everyone he met. Whether as a toddler singing "It's your attitude that makes you what you are" to grumpy teenagers, or as a cancer patient smiling and cracking jokes with nurses, Chad always had a smile on his face. Chad quietly served in ways that most of us never knew and he was quick to give a hand to all that needed help. Chad always brought the biggest smiles out of his nephew Sam and he was a hero to his nieces Annie and Kate. They already miss their big hugs from Uncle Chaddy.
We love you Chad and we'll see you soon.
Chad is survived by his parents Mark and Janet, brother Geoff, sister in-law Emily, nieces Annie and Kate, and nephew Sam.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at noon at the Salt Lake Highland Stake Center, 2738 South Filmore Street (approx. 1520 East), where friends and family can visit 10:30-11:30am prior to the service.
