1979-2012
On a cold November night a special son came to warm the hearts of his parents. Chad Lynn Spenst was born November 20, 1979 to Lynn and Sherrie Spenst. Chad was a special spirit whose love touched the hearts of all those who had the blessing of having contact with him. Though he struggled many years with Huntington’s disease, his heart remained strong and cheerful throughout all his trials. Always with a smile was his style, no matter what. Chad left this life on Sunday February 19, 2012 to begin a new journey and rejoice with those who passed before him. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his mom and family members at his side.
Before Chad was restricted by disease, he loved to live life to the fullest. He received a gift of roller skates when he was 3 and never wanted to take them off, skating more than he walked. Later he transitioned to rollerblading. His best friend was his dog Buddy who would pull him all around the neighborhood. Chad also loved to go anyplace where there was water. He was privileged to travel with his Mom and see many beautiful places with her. He was able to meet his idol Tim Duncan and he was one of BYU’s greatest fans. He was able to be a BYU hero for a day, which was a highlight of his life.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and most recently was ordained an Elder. Chad had many family and friends who loved and supported him throughout his illness. His mom offers many heartfelt thanks to those many loving hearts and hands, especially those who he worked with at Save & Gain.
He is survived by his mother Sherrie Spenst, stepsisters Heidi (Bob) and Tami (Jason), his special cousin/brother and best friend Dallin, many other loving aunts, uncles and cousins and his special Grandma Martin. He is preceded in death by his father Lynn Spenst, his stepsister Wendy, aunt Susie Sieverts and grandparents.
Very special thanks to Chad’s physician Dr. Stephen Wood and staff, as well as the staff at CNS nursing & hospice for their loving and devoted care.
