Our dear Mother and Omi passed away peacefully in the arms of her son, returning to the arms of the husband that she had missed so dearly for the last 26 years. Married Kurt Schneider, October 19, 1940 in Stuttgart Germany and later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Born in Stuttgart Germany, moving to Strasbourg France, and immigrating to the USA in 1951, led to her having one of her three children in each country.
She was always an example of strength amidst hardships, challenges and even danger in order to make a better life for her family. She survived the horrors of WWII experiencing bombings, threatening assaults from Moroccan troops, and warplane firings while walking her baby carriage.
After miraculous events that led to her immigration to America, there were new customs, and a new language to learn, as well as caring for her special needs son for 67 years. This was followed by the man she loved so dearly having a stroke that required her care for 12 years. She was the epitome of service and sacrifice always ready to help and give comfort to others. To fulfill the needs of her family was her foremost motivation. Family traditions, interacting with friends, traveling the world, and experiencing nature, especially Lake Tahoe, were her great joys.
Always true to her LDS faith, she served in a multitude of church callings. She had faith in her Savior and a strong testimony of prayer which guided her life.
Being an advocate of good nutrition and exercise enabled her to live independently in her own home until she passed through the veil to eternity. All those who knew and loved her will miss her dearly! Auf Wiedersehen Omi!
Preceded in death by husband Kurt, son Werner, sister, Ruth Anderson and brother, Alfred Bodon.
Survived by Siegfried (Sharon) Schneider, son: Susi (Stan) Nielsen, daughter; Harald (Sonja) Bodon, brother; Karl Heinz (Anita) Bodon, brother; Rosi Bodon, sister. Grandchildren: Marie McBride, Kurt B. Schneider, Reed Nielsen. Greats: Colter, Cassidy, Cache, Jackson McBride and Henry Nielsen.
