Clifford Ivan Barrett passed away peacefully at his home in Stansbury Park, Utah, at the age of 92. Born on Valentine’s Day in 1933 in Salt Lake City, Cliff lived a life marked by devotion—to his family, his faith, his country, and the land he helped shape.
A graduate of the University of Denver with a degree in Civil Engineering, Cliff began his career at Beechcraft Aircraft Co. in Wichita, Kansas. He soon answered the call to serve, joining the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1956 and continuing in the Army Reserves until 1980. His professional legacy was forged over three decades with the Bureau of Reclamation, where he contributed to landmark projects including the Glen Canyon Dam, the Jordanelle Dam, and the Central Utah Project’s Bonneville Unit. His expertise and leadership extended to international forums, including the World Congress of the International Commission on Irrigation and Flood Control and the United States National Committee of the World Energy Conference. He also served with the Colorado River Energy Distribution Association (CREDA) from 1989 until 2025, offering decades of insight and stewardship to the responsible management of energy resources in the American West.
Cliff married the love of his life, Mildred Stella Chesley (Lee), on June 18, 1954. Together they raised three children: Vicki Barrett Call, Myron Joseph Barrett (Rin), and Jaqueline Barrett Push, who preceded him in death in 2000. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward his legacy of integrity and quiet strength.
Beyond his professional achievements, Cliff found joy in music—especially playing the trombone in school and later in several bands, with a special fondness for Dixieland jazz. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, living his faith through service, humility, and gratitude. Cliff and Lee demonstrated their faith by serving a Mission in Vienna, Austria in 2001 to 2003.

Cliff often said that many good things in life come from luck, but he and Lee agreed that hard work plays a greater role. More deeply, Cliff believed that the Lord provides us with the tools and resources to meet the challenges He sets before us. Cliff met those challenges with grace, grit, and unwavering faith.
He loved the Lord. He loved his wife and family. And he loved his country.
