Cory James Wright, born September 10, 1952, passed away of cancer on July 13, 2025. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who made a lasting impact on all who knew him. Throughout his life, Cory worked for several rock product companies and demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit by owning two of his own businesses – a roofing company and a burger diner. He was deeply committed to his family, teaching his sons the importance of a strong work ethic, compassion, kindness, music and love of family. Cory was passionate about sports, especially golf, which he excelled at and earned himself a scholarship to Brigham Young University. Yet his sense of purpose led him to postpone college to serve a two-year mission in London, England – a decision that reflected his character and dedication.
He married Jan Huish (later divorced) and was blessed with four boys: Matthew (Kate) Wright, Bret (Lindsay) Wright, Scott (Amy) Wright and Brody (Lindsay) Wright. His family brought him immense joy and his grandchildren loved him dearly. He also had two brothers and a sister: his brother Boyd (Barbara) Wright preceded him in death, Rex (Marilyn) Wright and sister Debbie (Mike) Kokkola.
In 2007 he met Karen Samuels, they later married and spent the last 18 years of his life together. He never let a day go by without letting Karen know how beautiful she was and how much he loved her. She got him into fishing and camping in which fishing became his passion. His other passions were playing the bass guitar, loving on his dogs Edgar and Angel and traveling. Cory’s legacy is carried on through his sons and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, love, and perseverance. His family and friends mourn his passing but will always cherish his memory. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
