He was born March 4, 1947 in Salt Lake City to Adolph Locher and Myrtle Henriksen. He graduated from Olympus High School where he met Diane Edman, who would become his wife and greatest support. He participated in the band and spent his summers as a river rafting guide working for the Boy Scouts of America.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served honorably in the East Central States Mission from 1966 to 1968. Craig served in many church callings throughout his life. On September 5, 1969 he married Diane Edman in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had five sons and one daughter, Karen, who only lived a short time, but made a life-long impact on her parents and siblings. The boys filled their lives with love and beautiful chaos as they participated in sports and other activities, with their parents always supporting and cheering them on.
As grandchildren joined the family, Grandma and Grandpa provided the same nurturing care. They would frequently be found encouraging and cheering at their grandchildren’s activities. In his grandchildren he found his greatest joy and strength.
He attended Weber State as well as the University of Utah.
He worked several different jobs to provide for his family, including working at ZCMI where he made many friendships. He ultimately retired early due to health challenges.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane, sons David (Diane), Brad (Amber), Jason, Brian (Darla), Mark (Deborah), daughter-in-law Becky Hartwell, and 13 grandchildren, sister Sharen Ann Ainsworth and brother Loren Locher (Analiza). He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen, sister Janis and infant brother Kent.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wasatch 5th Ward located at 8100 S Top of the World Dr, Cottonwood Heights, UT.
There will be a viewing at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the funeral services.
It gives us peace to know that he no longer has to endure the health problems that he faced for many years. We can’t wait to see him again.
