

Cynthia Sue attended the University of Utah where she majored in English and Art History. In addition, she studied at Cambridge University, U.K., Boston College, Sienna College in Italy and Winterthur, Delaware to further her knowledge and passion for art and art history.
Known as Sue to family and friends, Cynthia Sue's love of art history carried into community philanthropy where she served as Chair on the Salt Lake Art Center Board of Trustees, Chair of the University of Utah College of Fine Arts Advisory Board and served on the University of Utah Museum of Fine Arts (FMFA) Board of Directors and as Chair of their Governance Committee. She served as a member of the Ballet West Executive Committee for seven years along with service to the Kimball Art Center Board and the Advisory Board for the University of Utah College of Nursing. Cynthia Sue was a long-time member of the Salt Lake County Center for the Arts Advisory Board and served as both its chair and vice-chair. Her leadership, drive and vision was instrumental in reinvigorating the Salt Lake County Art Collection. Sue formed the Art Collection Committee and served as its chair. She also served as chairman for numerous community fund raising events for various organizations. She had a strong belief and passion for the advancement of the arts in Utah. She was a member of the Salt Lake Country Club and a past member of the Alta Club.
Cynthia Sue is survived by her husband, Gary J. Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah and her son James B. Anderson, her daughter-in-law Kimberly D. Anderson and grandchildren Kierstin Shauna and Wyatt Carter Anderson of Landenberg, Pennsylvania. One daughter, Cynthia Shauna Anderson preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts at the University of Utah.
