1928 ~ 2010
Daisy passed away on Thursday, March 4th 2010 surrounded by her loving family after courageously battling rheumatoid arthritis for over thirty years. Daisy was born on November 13th 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from South High School in 1946. She met the love of her life, Earl, at a church dance in 1943 and they married on June 2nd, 1947. Daisy worked for many years at Sears Roebuck until 1965. Also, for many years she was actively involved in the women’s organization at the Ambassador Club.
Daisy’s greatest passion in life was always her family who will miss her dearly. Daisy’s home was always a haven for family and friends. Mom & Dad’s house was always the house in the neighborhood where the kids wanted to hang out. You didn’t leave Daisy’s house without eating something, it was the unspoken rule. Every year for about 40 years, on Easter and Christmas, she coordinated exceptional family reunions including presents for the 40 or more people in attendance. After her daughters grew up she hosted dinner each and every Thursday night for her kids, grandkids and anyone else who wanted to come, affectionately called “Thursday Night Supper.” It did not go unnoticed by anyone in the family that Daisy passed away on a Thursday night not too long after we had all eaten together by her room.
Daisy is preceded in death by her parents, Daisy Prime Goalen and Wilford Goalen. She is survived by her loving husband Earl, her daughters Ann (Tim) Krueger and Laura, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Jean (Arnold), Evelyn (Alvin) and Ellen (Glen).
The family would like to thank the nurses and all the other caregivers at St. Joseph’s Villa for the loving and tender care they provided to Daisy for the past two years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 9th at noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, located at 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. A visitation will be held Monday, March 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again one hour prior to services. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daisy’s name to the Arthritis Foundation.
