Dale Larry Jones “Laddy” born May 18, 1936, passed away November 8, 2022, surrounded by his family. He is best known for telling crazy, fun jokes and to make people laugh. A lot of times we called his jokes Larry-isms. His love of others was amazing!
Larry was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. He was still working at the age of 86 because he loved selling but mostly loved the people he worked with. When he was 12 years old, he started working at his parent's grocery store, Save a Nickel.
At East High school he broke state records throwing the javelin. Larry also played football, which he loved. Tally Stevens, the East High Coach, called him, after he graduated and asked him to come and play football at BYU. He received a track scholarship from the University of Utah. These were some great times for our dad, which he loved to talk about. He was also in the band and orchestra playing the trumpet and french horn.
Before his passing, Dad was selling CBD Products and making weekly online sales. He told us many times that to him, working was “like Christmas.” He was excited to go to work every day. Many knew him as the man who could sell a freezer to an Eskimo.
His wife, Carole, of 67 years, survives him. They were married on June 29, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. Dad first noticed Carole when he was 12. When they were 18, he asked her out on a date.
To this day, his family would awaken to hear their parents talking at 2 and 3 in the morning. The two have always been the best of friends and adore each other.
Larry and his sweetheart, Carole, are blessed with 5 children: Doug (Kathy) Jones, Dana (Bob) Beckstrom, David (Lisa) Jones, Denise (Tracy) Gressmen, and son, Dennis Jones (deceased at 5 days old) 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, Sister Patricia (Pat) Green and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, and his son, Dennis.
We love you, Dad! You will always be part of our lives. What great memories we have to hold on to!
