Daniel (Dan) Lucas attended Tintic High School in Eureka, Utah where he met and married his sweetheart Patricia (Trish) Giles. Dan and Trish produced three children, Paul Daniel, Teresa Jean, and Jeffrey Thomas. Dan and Patricia later Divorced. During his time in Eureka, Dan worked the mines and also was a volunteer fireman for the town.
In 1971, he relocated to the Salt Lake Valley and began working at Utah Sand and Gravel as a plant operator. During the winter, Dan began in what later became an absolute passion for him. Plowing snow at Snowbird Ski Resort. Dan never wavered in his commitment to “The Bird” and those who shared his passion for the outdoors and making Snowbird the World Class place that it is today. He took extraordinary pride in ensuring the skiers could arrive in the village on-time and enjoy the mountain as much as he did.
In 1978, he met Diana Hellstrom and her children Heather Nosack and what became his adopted son; Christian. They called Sandy their home for the last forty-five years and never strayed very far from Little Cottonwood. Dan and Diana enjoyed a close relationship with their neighbor, Ms. Margo Robins, who would help them when Dan was away. She became a very special friend to them both.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Lucas and Margaret Knotts, his brother, Michael and his son Paul. He is survived by his wife Diana, his children and sister, Patricia (Gerald) Brown.
Dan will be buried next to his son Paul. The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to Mrs. Patricia White for making this possible.

A morning viewing for Daniel will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106. A rosary will occur Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9757 S. 1700 E., Sandy, UT 84092. A funeral mass will occur Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9757 S. 1700 E., Sandy, UT 84092. An interment will occur Friday, June 28, 2024 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106.
