

Born February 7, 1926 in Heber City, Utah to Melvin Ezra and Virginia Clegg Newbold. Attended Wasatch High where she was a state debate champion and valedictorian. She loved music, played the clarinet and was chorister in her ward for many years. Married high school sweetheart, Max Charles Dickson on May 22, 1944. They shared 68 years together. Worked for Salt Lake City School District as a secretary in the schools and as secretary to the Superintendent. Faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many callings. Member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served as an officer in that organization. Preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Newbold and Virginia Clegg Newbold; brother, Noal Newbold; sister, Carladene Jones; children, Michael Kent Dickson and Dianne Dickson Smith; great-grandson, Matthew Chipman Dickson. Darlene is survived by her husband; children, Ronald (Patrice) Newbold Dickson and Kaylene (Steve) Dickson Murray; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin (Sue) Newbold and Dale (Francis) Newbold. Funeral services will be Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11am at the Canyon Rim 2nd Ward (3000 S. Grace St.). There will be a viewing Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 6-8pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 S.
