

David graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City where he excelled in athletics. He was a graduate of the University of Utah where he obtained a B. S. degree in marketing and banking and finance. He was a graduate of the Savings and Loan Management School at the University of Washington. After graduation he was employed by Universal C.I.T. Credit Cooperation from 1950 to 1955. During this period he was transferred to Missoula, Montana where he managed the office there.
He was employed by Prudential Federal Savings and Loan Association from 1955 until his retirement in 1983. He moved from Salt Lake to Ogden in 1964 as Vice President and manager of the Ogden Office.
He was active in civic affairs serving as chairman of several committees with the Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of Directors for the Weber Basin Homebuilders Association, United Way of Utah, Community Consumer Service of Northern Utah and Student Loan Service Corporation of Utah. He was a member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club, and director and member of the Weber Club. He was a Veteran of World War II Serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
David enjoyed golfing, fishing and yard work. He and his buddies made an annual trip to Mackay, Idaho where they fished the Big Lost River. David loved and enjoyed his grandkids. After his retirement he and Jackie enjoyed several cruises and did extensive traveling in Europe, Hawaii and the United States.
David is preceded in death by his wife; Jacqueline Blackner Cooper, parents, six siblings; Virginia Smellie Matheson (Kenneth), Lucille Smellie Partington (Heber), Walter LeRoy Cooper, John William Cooper, Dorothy Smellie Attebury (Warren), Wallace Noel Cooper (Rosemond), and great granddaughter; Kellie Carlson. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Cooper Kelly (Robert S. Trujillo) and his son David Craig Cooper (Kathy), sister; Elaine Losee (Virgil) as well as 17 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend love and appreciation to the staff at Family Tree Assisted Living Center located in West Point, Utah, they were amazing!
Services will be held June 3, 2019 at 2:00PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary and Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
