Born on June 29, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Duane and Virginia Gee, David was a man of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and boundless generosity. On July 16,1965, he married the love of his life, Susan Burnett, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned six decades. Their union was blessed with five children and later expanded to include seventeen cherished grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to David’s life.
David received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah. He then dedicated 30 years of service as a mechanical engineer for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where his work was marked by diligence, integrity, and a deep sense of purpose. Beyond his professional contributions, David was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faithfully serving in numerous leadership callings throughout his life. His commitment to the gospel was further exemplified when he and Susan served a Church Service Mission in the Church’s Documents Department, a time they both treasured deeply.
A man of many talents, David found joy in the simple and profound. He was an avid oil painter, capturing the beauty of the world around him with each brushstroke. His love for gardening brought life and color to his home, and his skill as a car mechanic was a gift he generously shared with family, friends, and neighbors alike. Whether fixing a broken engine, lending a helping hand, or offering food to those in need, David’s life was a testament to service and enduring love.
David loved his family. He especially loved his grandchildren. His greatest joy came from serving others. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught and the love he gave so freely.
David is survived by his wife Susan, sons, Trent (Rachel), Jeff, Bryan (Kimberly), Randy (Sharon), daughter Leslie (Richard) Black and his siblings, Bill (Launa) Gee, Shirley (Tom) Bess, Becky (Cliff) Cottam and Tim (Robyn) Gee. His grandchildren, Tyler (Tema) Gee, Emily (Gene) Collins, Hailey (Brigham) Warner, Amy Gee, Julie Gee, Riley (Sadie) Gee, Maxine Gee, Easton Gee, Brooklynn Gee, Libby (Will) Lloyd, Gavin Gee, Carter Gee, Adalynn Gee, Kierra Black, Britta Black, Olivia Black.
