had a long life, full of smiles, tears, and steady glimpses of eternal joys. While kidney
failure filled a large part of the last decade of her life, Dawn struggled through for the
love of the family she held dear to her heart. Those of us close to her, do well to
remember many happy years of a wonderful grandmother, a faithful follower of the
gospel, and a loving matriarch.
Dawn was born on October 9, 1943, in Moab, Utah to parents, Eugene and Thelma
Dalton. She spent her early years living in both the Moab area and in Salt Lake
City. She attended Highland High School and graduated from Olympus High
School. She also attended the University of Utah where she met her future husband,
Roland Dennis Bain. Dennis and Dawn were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple by Marion
D. Hanks on June 16, 1965. She treasured her time with Dennis, a relationship that
found them moving multiple times and in multiple cities in Utah, Idaho, Washington,
New Mexico, California, Colorado, South Carolina, and Texas. Around 21 different
places had the honor of Dawn calling them “home” during her life. Dennis and Dawn
raised 4 exceptional children, they enjoyed family nights, family vacations, and the
family watching BYU games wherever the satellite could find it.
Throughout her life, Dawn was committed to being a loving wife and mother. She was
an excellent homemaker, fantastic cook, and held a dedicated seat at the city park to
support her kids in every league. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart,
and she made great efforts to be a loving grandmother. Dawn spent her life faithfully
serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Whether it was in a
leadership role, speaking, cooking, and even teaching seminary, her strong faith and
dedication to the church is commendable. She was deeply beloved by her lifelong
friends, and very much enjoyed getting together with them in their regular "club"
meetings.
Dawn was preceded in death by her Husband, Roland Dennis Bain; her parents Eugene
and Thelma Dalton; and her sisters, Karen Salter and Kristie Gallegos.
Dawn is survived by Alan (Helen) Salter (brother-in-law); Lynda (Mark) Elkins
(sister); David Dalton (brother); Brent (Sharon) Bain (brother-in-law); Connie (Dick) Furstenau
(sister-in-law); and her children Lisa (Kent) Prestgard; Pamela Bain; Bryan (Deena) Bain; Nancy
(Jim) Sirrine; 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild with 2 more on the way
