

Dean Wright Martin was born January 28, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, to Samuel P. Martin and Ruth Wright Martin. He died February 8, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent his childhood in Western Springs, Illinois, graduating from Lyon’s Township High where he was class president and yearbook editor. He attended Lyon’s Township Junior College before fulfilling an LDS mission to South Africa. He enlisted in the US Army and spent two years in Anchorage, Alaska. He graduated from BYU and was active in the Men’s Commerce Club and the Forensic Association, representing BYU in debate tournaments at universities in all of the western states, New York and Washington, D.C. He was employed by Dun and Bradstreet, Thiokol, and Unisys.
He married Marian Green in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 4, 1957. Dean was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in several bishoprics and was a dedicated home teacher.
At all times a gentleman, Dean will be remembered for his kindness, loving nature, generosity, unselfishness, patience and lack of guile.
Survived by his wife Marian, daughters Liz (Paul) Bradley and Sue (Brian) Anderson and six grandchildren: Lauren, Sarah and Matt Bradley and Nick, Scott and Elder Jake Anderson. Proceeded in death by his parents, step-mother Jean Holmolka and sister Marilyn.
Funeral services will be at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, SLC at 11:00 am on Friday, February 12th, with a viewing the evening before from 6:30-8:00 pm, and prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 am.
