Dorian E. Glauser, cherished husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and dear friend, passed peacefully at home on Sunday morning, June 14, 2026. His family rejoices in a life defined by loving kindness, faithful service, and deep devotion to his family and to his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dorian was born on a cold winter day, December 9, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frederick and Frances Gleich Glauser. He was the fourth of five children and spent his childhood growing up across from Liberty Park, where he formed treasured memories surrounded by family, including the loving protection of his grandparents. He graduated from South High School and developed an early passion for photography, even building his own darkroom as a young man.
In July 1966, Dorian met the love of his life, Kathryn Peck. While Dorian may not have known it at the time, Kathy was certain she would one day marry him. They were married on January 5, 1968, and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on January 5, 1973. Together, they built a loving home centered on faith, family, and enduring love.
Throughout Dorian’s life, he pursued both creativity and entrepreneurship. He worked in photography departments and management roles for companies such as Auerbach’s, ZCMI, JCPenney and Bell & Howell Mamiya Co. Eventually owning his own photography businesses, including Fast Photo and A-1 Photo Quick. He also found success in the food industry, owning and operating the Cheese Shop at Valley Fair Mall and several deli ventures. He concluded his career with Wasatch Photographic, retiring at age 62.
Dorian had a deep appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. He cultivated hundreds of orchids in his greenhouse and served as the president of The Utah Orchid Society. He developed talents in woodturning—creating bowls, vases, and handcrafted pens—and later discovered a love for stained glass, producing meaningful pieces for his home, his cabin, and his family members. He especially cherished teaching his grandchildren these creative skills.
He was a lifelong enthusiastic supporter of BYU athletics. Later in life he found joy in traveling, particularly on cruises to Alaska, the Mexican Riviera, and the Panama Canal. Time spent at their cabin was always cherished.
Despite significant physical challenges throughout his life—including numerous surgeries, chronic pain, and health complications—Dorian endured with quiet strength, determination, and faith. He rarely complained and remained an example of perseverance to all who knew him.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dorian had a strong and abiding testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served diligently in many callings, eventually serving as the Bishop of the Crystal Heights 1st Ward and later as a member of the stake presidency in the Salt Lake Highland Stake. He also loved to tell stories from his time serving in the baptistry of the Salt Lake City Temple. He loved serving the Lord and ministering to others, forming lasting friendships and touching many lives through his Christlike service.
Dorian is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn; his five children: Cynthia Christensen (Ryan), Dorian Glauser Jr. (Alexis), Rebecca Poole (Rob), Andrew Glauser (Angie), and Eric Glauser (Rachel); 13 grandchildren; 9 bonus grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 5 bonus great-grandchildren.
