Dear Uncle Kenneth and cousins (especially Lynnette!) We've lost a wonderful person in our lives.  I feel bad I can't be there to give you hugs and tell you the feelings in my heart.  Aunt Dorothy played a special role in my life by gathering family around with baby showers, luncheons, dinners. I remember her eyes twinkling with humor and I wish I could have been at the funeral to honor her. Know I am thinking of you at this time.

Dear Uncle Ken and family -
We are so sorry to hear about Dorothy and want to let you know that we are thinking of you in this time of sorrow.  Dorothy wil always be my "funny aunt" - she was full of humor and love, and we will miss her.  I remember when Chris and I would come over to tend you kids when you were babies - we loved it because Dorothy would always have somethng yummy for us to eat!  It is hard to be away at times like this, but we are loving our home in Kansas City and the closeness to our little grandsons.  We wish you all the comfort that a loving family can give - God bless you.

Minson family- Thank you for sharing you mom with all of us. I knew her as the bishop's wife and the family that followed us up to Bear Lake. I always thought of Sister Minson as "good as gold." I didn't know her very well, but always saw her as a lady. She will be missed.

Dear Ken & Family, 

I was so saddened to receive Kristin's phone call, informing me of Dorothy's passing.   My life is much richer having the privilege of being counted among her many friends.  

Working with her at UEA was such a joy.  Her cheerful nature, wisdom, work ethic, and professionalism were key elements to the success of the UEA Membership Department.  No task was ever too daunting, and she was always willing to help regardless of what needed to be done.  During those years, Utah was first in the nation for records accuracy, much due to Dorothy's expertise.  In my humble opinion, we were an awesome team!  Most importantly, we had fun together, whether it was the day-to-day happenings, UEA Retreats, or NEA training trips.  The fun didn't end at the office either.  Some of my most cherished memories are our weekly “Therapy Group” lunches, where we came up with solutions for UEA's most complex problems—if they had just taken our sage advice!  Most treasured are the lasting friendships that were forged as we enjoyed all sorts of cuisine and shared our most intimate feelings about life.  One person's joys and sorrows soon became the joys and sorrows of all of us, and we shared a lot of laughs and tears. I envision her reunion with Carol Johnson, grateful that friendships are of an eternal nature. 

I admired Dorothy's wisdom, as I saw the way she was able to successfully raise her wonderful family while pursuing her career.  She always seemed to have the right words and knew the right thing to do to solve a problem. I learned a lot during those years we shared and especially admired the love and devotion she had for you and your family.  While you will miss her earthly companionship, I know she will continue to be with you as your guardian angel.

Her cooking truly was legendary, and some of my favorite recipes from our UEA
“United Eaters of America” cookbook are hers.  Preparing gourmet meals for the masses often became part of our job descriptions.  How we did it all I don't know, but it was great fun! 

We will miss her keen wit and the sweetness she brought to our lunches at Morelia and the plays at Hale Theatre but will always cherish the memories of experiences we shared.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the difficult days ahead as you cope with this loss. While I know from experience that the longing for the earthly companionship of your eternal sweetheart never goes away, I also know that cherished memories and hope for the future through our faith and knowledge we share of the Plan of Happiness bring comfort and peace. I pray that the love and concern of friends and family will help to ease the burden of your sorrow.
