Eben was born May 3, 1935, in San Bernardino, CA to Eben R.T. Blomquist and Ethel Eugenia Johnson, the youngest of six children. Eben has lived in California, Utah and Sweden. His father was called to be a mission president in Sweden when Eben was 10 years old. After moving back to Utah, Eben went to school at East High School and graduated in 1952. After high school, his parents moved to a home on Hillview Dr. In his new ward, he was involved with an all-church dance festival and met Barbara Burgener. They were married on March 23, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Soon after, they left for Sweden to help his father, who had just been called as a Mission President for the Scandinavia area. Eben served as the mission printer and chauffeur, while Barbara helped with the mission home and cooked for the missionaries.
Eben attended the University of Utah, but with the demands of a small family, joined his father and brother, Wayne, in the real estate business under the name Blomquist-Blomquist Realty. When the real estate market crumbled in 1967, Eben and Barbara moved their family to California where he worked as a salesman, then joined Tax Corporation of America as a tax preparer. He oversaw a large group of tax preparers and from November to May he was very busy. When it wasn't tax season, he pursued other interests; such as gold mines, cattle feed lots, RV rentals and real estate development. In January 1976, he and mom decided to move back to Utah.
Eben is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has served in many positions in the church, such as Eider's Quorum President, Young Men's President, Executive Secretary, Financial Clerk, Membership Clerk, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Presidency, High Priest Group leadership, working with the Boy Scouts, and Stake Family History consultant with Barbara. At the time of his passing, he was serving in his most favorite calling as Sacrament Meeting Greeter.
Eben is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Russell, Wayne, Lavon, Melvin and Betty; a granddaughter, Katherine; a grandson, Trevor; and a great-granddaughter, Addison. He is survived by his sweet wife, Barbara, and his children: DeAnne Williams (Eric), twins Dean Blomquist (Rashelle) and Deborah Strong (Gordon), Wendy Motteshard (Steven) and Bryan Blomquist (Melody), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
