

Elizabeth “Betty” “Maga” passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013. She was born July 18, 1919 in Midvale, Utah to Dr. John Symonds Alley and Edna Myrtle McElravy. She loved to share stories about growing up in Midvale. Her father was the town doctor and her mother his nurse. She had many great adventures with her only brother Jack. She graduated from Jordan High School, and attended the University of Utah where she received a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She also caught the heart of the handsome football star Paul Homer Snow, whom she married January 3, 1942 in Enid, Oklahoma. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, April 18, 1960. Paul passed away June 30, 1960. Betty married Carl Nelson Day June 16, 1962. He was killed in a car accident November 17, 1974. After retiring from teaching, mom spent her winters in Arizona. She enjoyed an active lifestyle. She loved social dancing her whole life. She was even dancing at her 93rd birthday party with her oxygen tank and walker in tow. Mom always loved a good party! Mom also loved to help others. She was a member of The Assistance League of Salt Lake City. She served faithfully in the LDS church. She had many friends. We will miss her dearly. She is survived by three children, John P. Snow “Jack” (Pam) Mesa, Arizona, Robert J. Snow (Connie) Salt Lake City, Utah, and Paula Snow Madsen (Neil) Fruit Heights, Utah, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two step-sons, Robert Day and David Day. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Symonds Alley Jr., her husbands Paul H. Snow, and C. Nelson Day, and a grandson Paul Thomas Snow. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Her family would like to thank all those who cared for her and who loved her the past few years especially her family at Sunrise at Holladay Assisted Loving.
