

He was born on December 5, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clarence Raymond Hennefer and Martha Dahl. A lifelong resident of Salt Lake City, Russ graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah before beginning his career in newspaper printing. He worked for the Newspaper Agency Corporation for more than 40 years before retiring.
On May 21, 1956, Russ married the love of his life La Faye Forbes. Together they raised four children: Bill, Bob, Barry, and Cherie.
Russ was a gifted storyteller who fondly recalled his childhood advent ures exploring Salt Lake City and the nearby outdoors. He loved birding, hunting, and fishing, and was also an avid sports fan and skilled bowler. He rarely missed a Utah football or basketball game, often tuning in on the radio to cheer on his favorite teams. A talented farmer, Russ enjoyed spending time at his small farm in Daniel, Utah, where he found great satisfaction in working the land. He could often be found behind his camera, relaxing in his favorite lawn chair after tending his garden, or taking a drive with Faye to favorite destinations such as Farmington Bay, Heber, or the local canyons.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; his children, Bill Hennefer (Terry), Bob Hennefer (Suzanne), Barry Hennefer, and Cherie Lindsey (Stephen), 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren as well as his sister, Gay Jensen (Wayne). He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Haven Ward Building, 2280 S. 300 E. Salt Lake City, UT 84115. Services will begin at 11:00am, with a viewing held from 9:45-10:45am.
Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, 3401 S. Highland Dr., Millcreek, Utah.
