Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and war hero, Forrest Sturdevant Allinder, 93, passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 21, 1924 in Los Angeles, California, an only child of Forrest and Edna Allinder.
He had an idyllic childhood on the beaches of Balboa on property owned by his grandparents. Later he converted the beach house into a lovely home for his young family. After graduation from high school, he enrolled in the Army Infantry and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II where he lost many dear friends. Following his service to his country, he enrolled at Cal Tech where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with his bachelors and masters degree in Chemical Engineering. Following graduation, he married and had 2 children: Craig Allinder and Jodean (Richard) Albright. They later divorced.
He worked for Union Oil for 30 years throughout California and Montana. Upon his retirement, he moved to Salt Lake City to work for Sinclair Oil for 18 years where he met the love of his life, Lois Rostron Trayner. They married on December 22, 1985 and he gained 4 more children: Corrinne (Gary) Plott, Sue (Gary) Hughes, Stephen (Sandy) Trayner and Richard (Colleen) Trayner, 13 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life.
