It is with deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Frederika “Freddie” Marianne Hockett, on August 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on July 1, 1947, in Groningen, the Netherlands, to Jan Meyer and Jantiene Luttmer Meyer. She was known as Ria to her Dutch family and carried her Dutch roots proudly, weaving them into the traditions and values she shared throughout her life.
Her life changed forever on May 24, 1973, when she married David Arthur Hockett, the love of her life. After David passed away, Freddie’s heart remained with him. She spoke openly and without hesitation: there was nobody else for her.
Freddie lived with intention and heart. She was known for her kindness, her thoughtfulness, and her loving nature. Her warm smile — the one she wore almost constantly — made others feel welcome and cared for. She also had a fun, spirited side that never faded. Even in her seventies, she loved going to rock concerts with her daughter Tina, singing and dancing with joy to 30 Seconds to Mars, Bon Jovi, and the Goo Goo Dolls.
Her greatest joy was her family: her children, Chris and Tina, who were the center of her world; her sisters, Marianne Robison (Scott) and Penny Peters (Mark), with whom she shared lifelong bonds; and her granddog, Bubbles, who brought her daily comfort and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jan and Jantiene Meyer; her sister, Erna Meyer; and her beloved husband, David Arthur Hockett.
Freddie’s legacy is one of devotion, kindness, joy, and the gentle strength she carried into every part of her life.
