Gary Anthony Frank

Survived by his loving wife of 40 years Lorayne Tempest, his former wife Linda Brooks, and their five children Heidi Sansom (David), Brent Frank (Eden), Brooks Frank (Joanne), Hollie Andrus (Zack), Ethan Frank (Brandy and Steamboat Sophie) his brother Kim Frank (Jan) and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also had a great relationship with his cousin Jerry Young. Preceded in death by his parents - Arthur and Lucille Frank, and his sister Sharon Stuart (Ron). Gary was especially close to his step-daughter Deana (Jay) Mortensen and her family. The Frank family wishes to extend special thanks to Jay and Deana Mortensen for their unwavering support.

Gary attended Olympus High School, where he was a star running back (Class of 1959) and the newspapers called him “Flashy Frank.” He subsequently graduated from the University of Utah College of Law in 1965. He practiced law in Salt Lake City for nearly 60 years.

Gary was an avid golfer and established life-long friendships within the local golf community - Mountain Dell Golf Course and Stonebridge Golf Course (where he marshaled for 10+ years) being particularly fond in his heart. He was very proud of his two Hole-in-Ones at Cobblecreek and Mountain Dell golf courses. For many years, he played bridge every Friday at the Olympus Senior Citizen Center where he made many friends. He was extremely passionate about aviation - an interest he shared with his sons - watching planes takeoff and land at Salt Lake International Airport for hours on end. He maintained an enduring bond with his father through their shared interest in WWII history and similarly with his mother through anything and everything related to the University of Utah…Go Utes!

Gary and Lorayne had many great trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Boston, and San Diego to name a few. One of the most memorable was Gettysburg and visiting the battle sights with a private park guide. Gary wrote Lorayne the most beautiful poems for each birthday and anniversary that she will cherish forever. She will always hold him dear to her heart as he was the love of her life.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held in Gary’s honor with immediate family.

Gary has gone to play the grandest course of all, where the greens are always perfect and the sun never sets.
