April 30, 1929 - January 11, 2022
Gayle, 92, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022. She was born in Salt Lake City to parents Theon and Sylvia Southworth. We hope that she is having a beautiful reunion with her husband Ralph, daughters Darcel Douglass and Michele Murphy, and siblings Sylvia Southworth Jones and LaVerl Southworth. She is survived by grand-daughter Kirsten Douglass of California and many dear friends who were like family.
Gayle could put a smile on everyone’s face. She was a sun goddess, and enjoyed the hot weather by planting flowers in her garden or swimming laps in her pool each morning. She loved roosters (probably because she was an early riser) and had 198 rooster decorations in her kitchen! She would challenge the kids who visited to find them all. She loved to shop and was a self proclaimed shopaholic; a trait that her daughters and granddaughter learned from her. She could always find the best deals and could “shop till we drop “. She loved mystery novels, jigsaw puzzles, anything to do with chocolate.
She will be laid to rest in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City next to her husband. At Gayle’s request, there will be no Services. We already miss her dearly. Her family would like to thank all of the aides, nurses, and support staff who cared so deeply for her.
