George Mark Paulson, 57, of Salt Lake City, Utah, peacefully fulfilled his earthly mission on April 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 20-year battle with graft-versus-host disease and chronic myelogenous leukemia.
Mark was born on November 14, 1968, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to George Melvin Paulson Jr. and Sharee Callister Paulson. He was raised alongside his four sisters and one brother. After graduating from Cherry Creek High School, he attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a master’s degree in accounting. He later received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
A defining experience in Mark’s life was serving a mission in the Amsterdam Netherlands Mission, which remained one of his most cherished experiences.
Following his mission, Mark returned to BYU, where he met his beloved sweetheart, Krista. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple on July 17, 1993, beginning what Mark lovingly described as “32 years of bliss.” Together, they were blessed with five children: Julia Lauren, George Mark, Diana Kristine, Elias Rae, and Andrew Ryan.
In March 2006, Mark received what he called his “mission call” when he was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). He subsequently underwent a bone marrow transplant, with his dear sister, Carol Moody, serving as his donor. This profound trial shaped Mark’s character and deepened his faith, refining him into the man his family and friends knew and loved.
Mark was known for his steady faith, quick wit, and deep kindness. He had a gift for making others feel valued and loved, and he brought strength and calm to those around him. His life reflected his deep love for the Savior, which he demonstrated through quiet service, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family.
Mark passed from this life surrounded by his family, bearing testimony of his love for the Lord and of the Savior’s love for each of us.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Krista Hales Paulson; his children, Julia, Diana, and Andrew; and his sons-in-law, Hunter Moseley and Eric Patten. He was preceded in death by his two beloved sons, George Mark and Elias Rae.
A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2350 S 2100 E, Salt Lake City, Utah. All who wish to attend are warmly invited to celebrate Mark’s life and his love of the Lord.
