Christensen
(1933-2010)
Gordon Rich "Gordy" Christensen, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the V.A. Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a long illness. He was born in Elsinore, Utah, July 23, 1933, a son of R. Gordon and Helen Poulson Christensen. He married Bonnie Jean Grieser in 1977, later divorced. Married Beverly Borgmann on July 20, 1982, and they shared 28 years of both happiness and hardship.
Gordy graduated from South Sevier High School in Monroe, Utah, where he was a star basketball player. He threw in the winning basket when South Sevier won their first State Championship in 1951. As well as being an accomplished athlete in basketball, baseball, gymnastics, hunting, fishing, and trick-roping, he was also a talented musician, both on the piano and guitar and had a nice singing voice, especially around a campfire. He loved the mountains and outdoors, but was equally adept at the billiard or card table. He loved life and he lived it to the fullest. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, worked for the Utah Fish & Game Commission, and later was a real estate agent for many years.
Gordon is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly; step-daughters, Diane Ferguson and Pamela Bechtolt; sisters, MarKaye Lowe; Rosalyn and George Norris, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, John R. Lowe.
The family would like to thank all those at the V.A. Hospital and Bristol Hospice for their compassionate help and care throughout Gordon's lengthy illness. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 12:00 Noon, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah.
