Born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1936 to Dal and Cecelia Cohne Siegel, Gordon was a graduate of East High School, the University of California at Berkeley, and received his MBA from Westminster College. Gordon met his beloved Geri at Berkeley and they married in California in 1959. They made their home in Salt Lake City where Gordon worked in the family business, improving it by providing an expertise in coins and stringed instruments and becoming a Graduate Gemologist of the GIA. His career path led him into real estate and, ultimately at 55, to earning his MBA and becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He was still providing tax advice into the final months of his life. Gordon was proud of his years in ROTC and his service in the Army, where he achieved the rank of Captain. Gordon and Geri were founding members of Congregation Kol Ami. He was passionate about chess, collecting rare coins, and had a beautiful singing voice.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geri Siegel; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve Siegel and Lisa Sladyk of Knoxville, Tennessee; his daughter, Nancy Jeanne Arielle Siegel, daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Siegel and Kevin Gillars, grandchildren Celia Gillars and Bryce Gillars, all of Salt Lake City; and his sister, Linda Siegel Carney of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, 12:00pm, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Interment immediately following at Montefiore Cemetery, 1081 East 4th Avenue. Shiva Minyan will be held Monday, September 28, 2026 at 7:00pm at the Siegel home.
