

Gustav Adolf Wiman, age 92, of Holladay, Utah passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Born June 30,1930 in a rural town in Stromsund, Sweden, he left home at only 14-years-old to live in San Francisco and work internationally on cargo ships.
Gustav traveled all around the world before age 19. At that time, he spent a few years living in Sydney, Australia where he worked construction on the Harbor Bridge and on some of the heritage homes.
In the mid 1950s, he moved to Stockholm, Sweden where he met Vivian Silvring. They were married in 1957 and later sealed in the Bern, Switzerland temple in 1961. They welcomed their first child, Ulf in 1958 and then shortly afterward, Caroline joined their family in 1962.
During the period they lived in Sweden, they spent much of their time traveling in Europe, visiting relatives in the Swedish countryside, and enjoying the arts and culture of Stockholm. In 1972, Gustav and Vivian decided to immigrate to the United States where they settled in Holladay, Utah.
Gustav was a phenomenal carpenter and painter. He renovated his own home and as a full-time career, he worked on million-dollar homes throughout Sake Lake City and Summit County. Gustav was an avid fan of western movies, collecting antiques, camping with his daughter and grandchildren, cooking Swedish inspired meals for his family, and had a great fondness for animals.
Gustav was a tenacious worker and always made sure his home and yard was beautiful and pristine. He reluctantly decided to retire at the young age of 88-years-old. He and Vivian resided at Sunrise Retirement until his passing.
Gustav will always be remembered for his warm heart, generosity, unique humor, storytelling, and calm nature. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed and cherished forever.
