

Born to Fredrick and Ellen Sandberg the 8th child of a family of 6 boys and 6 girls. Helen lived in the Highland Park area for 90 years making her one of the longest living residents in the area. Her father built the Granite Mill in 1907, still family owned and operated today. The Fredrick R. Sandberg Memorial Bridge at Hidden Hollow in Sugar House stands in his honor.
Helen married Ernest C. Ferguson in 1943. Marriage later solemnized in the LDS Temple in 1999. Together they had four sons; Ernest, James, Ronald and Douglas and continued living in the Sugar House area.
Helen loved being a member of the LDS Church. During her lifetime she served in many church callings and was a very devoted and dedicated daughter to her Father in Heaven. Helen loved to read, cook, play the piano, and have family parties at her home. She loved her family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Fehlauer, Michelle Paul, DHS and all the staff at Silverado Senior Living for the excellent care and devotion towards Helen. The care she received was beyond reproach and Helen was very happy there.
Helen is survived by her sons; James D. Ferguson (Jodie), Ronald R. Ferguson (Gina), Douglas Ferguson (Valerie), sister Mary Fackral, sister-in-law Dorothy Laker. Preceded in death by Ernest C. Ferguson(husband), Ernest F. Ferguson(son), and Michael James Ferguson (grandson).
Funeral service, Friday, April 22, 2016, 12:00 noon. Imperial 2nd Ward, 2738 S. Filmore Street. Friends may call for viewing and respects 11:00 -11:30 prior to funeral. Friends are welcome Thursday, April 21, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive. Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
