Irene Jeppsen

Irene Laughlin Jeppsen age 92 passed away on June 9, 2015 in Sandy, Utah. She was born April 10, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frank Nichols Laughlin and Gertrude Phillips Laughlin. She attended Forest Elementary, Irving Jr. High, East High school where she was in the Capella choir and LDS Business College. Irene married Ferron Peirce Jeppsen on November 10, 1949 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Irene loved children and served in the Primary Organization , ward and stake choirs and was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts, she also volunteered for many charitable organizations. She loved to travel, play the piano, gardening, parades, painting, scrapbooking, going to lunch and photography, she could always be found with her camera. Irene was the family historian and was a talented writer. She was employed at First Security, Walker and Zions Banks. Irene made many quilts and blankets for her family. Her family was her greatest joy and took great care to make them feel loved and cherished. She had a love for animals and doll collecting. She loved to go for walks in Sugarhouse (Sugarville) and rides in the mountains. Irene was a member of the Lincoln Ward since 1929 and made many dear friends. Irene is survived by her children Dennis (Julie) Jeppsen, Janis (David) Westley, Kathy (Gordon) Butcher and Leslie (Mark) Ashton 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and cousin Raymond Phillips. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Edwin, Victor, Eugene and Frank, sister Bernice, grandchildren Joshua Jeppsen and David & Carissa Westley, great granddaughter Chelsea Nieuwland and cousin Sydney Keilland.

Services will be held Saturday June 13, 2015 at 12:00 pm at the Lincoln Ward Chapel, 2005 South 900 East in Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may call on Friday June 12, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive.
