Irene Farnsworth Meakin age 91 passed way on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 with her loving husband of 68 years by her side. Irene was born December 31, 1925, the 2nd of 6 children born to Benjamin LaSal Farnsworth and Afton Irene Strong. She met her eternal husband, Harold Dwight Meakin upon returning from a Spanish speaking mission to the Southern States and after Harold returned home at the end of WWII. Irene is survived by her husband, Harold, children, Carol (Jerry) Tate, Jerry (Betty) Meakin, Joe (Jeanne) Meakin, Bob (Vickie) Meakin, Maarti (Kent) Murray and Mary (Dennis) Ryan. She is also survived by a sister, Gail Findlay, a brother, Richard (Ruth) Farnsworth, 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Fort Union 3rd Ward, located at 6720 South 1300 East, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9:30AM, prior to services at the church. Interment at Wasatch Mortuary Cemetery, 3401 South Highland Drive, SLC.
