James L. Graham, age 91, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in Salt Lake City at Utah State Veterans Home. He was born October 21, 1922 in Hearthill, Scotland to Alexander and Elsie Graham. James attended Granite High School, and at the age of 17 he joined the US Navy. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Princeton Aircraft Carrier. Following his military service James married the love of his life, Varna Payne, and they spent the next 65 years together.
James was a loving husband and father who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.
James is survived by his children DeAnn Remy and Marvin L. Graham; sister Millie Christensen and brother Gordon Graham; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Varna Payne Graham; brothers Alex Graham Jr. and Melvin Graham; and grandson Jason Remy.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, with a visitation one hour prior at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
