Janice Marsha Morgan Bird passed away January 27, 2020 at her memory care facility in Midvale, UT. Janice was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Edwin Morgan and Laura Madeline Springer. Janice was the oldest of her six siblings, survived by all, Christine Eberline (Park City, UT), Margene Wrigley (Salt Lake City), E. James Morgan (West Jordan), Valerie Wallace (Salt Lake, UT) and Leslie Ackerman (Hood River, Oregon). Janice is also survived by her two children, Steven Bird (Edmond, OK) and Amanda Bird (Midvale, UT) and six grandchildren: Talya Giles (Logan, UT), Mason Giles (Medford, OR), Landon Giles (Lindon, UT), Shane Bird (Oklahoma City, OK) Baylor Giles (Midvale, UT), and Brett Bird (Oklahoma City, OK). Janice is also survived by her first great grandchild, Clover Giles (Medford, OR).
Janice lived a full and purposeful life and had a warm loving disposition. In her younger years Janice traveled and had an affinity for the arts. She pursued art at the University of Utah. Art as a passion was seen in her ability to create a beautiful home filled with handcrafted or decorated furnishings, quilts, and other unique creations. She also had a gifted green thumb. Her yard was well cultivated with unique and beautiful landscaping through her own doing.
Later in life Janice pursued a college degree at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, now University of Central Oklahoma. Janice became a registered nurse and worked with the most delicate population in a Neonatal ICU.
Not only did Janice care for infants in critical situations. She cared for many animals in critical situations. She had a very soft heart for stranded and stray animals. Janice volunteered at the Edmond Animal Shelter for 16 years. This lead to many adoptions in her own home as well as many in other homes.
Just three years ago, Janice moved to Utah to live with her daughter who could provide the care needed for her advanced dementia. As the disease progressed she moved into a memory care facility where she spread a positive, loving culture. Though she often had difficulty remembering details and names, everyone she was in contact with knew that they were loved and appreciated for their kindness towards her.
Janice was a woman of faith and deeply believed in her Savior, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and eternal families. Janice continued to live the principles that made her loved by all who knew her. She was selfless in so many ways and showed her faith and gratitude throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all.
