Jared Stephen Seastrand, born March 8, 1978, son of the late S. Allen Seastrand, Jeri Jolley Seastrand Webb, and Steven A. Webb, passed away at home on September 30th, forever ruining his younger brother’s birthday, which falls on the same day.
Growing up in Sandy UT, he fell in love with music at a young age. He dabbled with a few instruments, including a brief stint with the saxophone whereupon he annoyed his entire family with his terrible rendition of “Songbird” by Kenny G. Eventually, he found his home behind the drum set, where he excelled. He also had a strong passion for singing, playing the guitar, and writing music.
Jared graduated from Alta High School in 1996, where he enjoyed playing soccer, but he had such a tremendous throwing arm that he grew to love baseball more than anything. He also helped form and played in a high school band, Oracle, producing an album “…And the Horse They Rowed In On.”
In addition to sports and music. Jared had a particular fondness for the water, enjoying many family vacations boating and water skiing at his favorite destination, Lake Powell.
From 1997 to 1998, Jared served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dublin, Ireland. He held a deep affection for Irish culture, which made a great impact on his life. Unfortunately, his colorblindness turned the beautiful, lush colors of Ireland to nothing but a dull, boring brown.
In 2005, Jared married Andrea Bailey, and from that union became an instant father to their daughter, Brooke. Later, his joy was added to with the birth of his daughters Quinn and Rylee, and his son Liam. He considered his children his greatest blessing and was proud to devote his entire self to being a father.
Jared is preceded in death by his father, S. Allen, who passed a month before Jared’s birth, as well as his dog, Tikani, which probably got eaten by an alligator in the Everglades. He is survived by his parents, Jeri and Steve Webb, his siblings, Clayton Seastrand (Takako), Muriel English, Sandi Seastrand, Alex Webb, and Drew Webb (Kaily), as well as his children, Brooke Blake, Quinn, Liam, and Rylee Seastrand.
