
After a ten year separation, Jay Arville Croxford was reunited with his sweetheart, Barbara, on July 12, 2012. Jay was born on January 2, 1929 to Josephine William and Blanchard Croxford. Jay was raised in Salt Lake City, working hard and watching every car that drove past his corner. He served a mission for the LDS church to the East Central States mission. Upon his return, he enlisted in the Army and served his country during the Korean War. He worked his way through college as a meat cutter, graduating from the University of Utah in 1960. After graduation, he was employed by the State of Utah. He is remembered by his family as a hard-working father and almost always had a building or remodeling project going. Jay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving faithfully in a variety of callings including 10 years on the Stake High Council and many years as a stake missionary. He was an avid student of the scriptures, and loved missionary work. He married Barbara Thornock on October 2, 1951. They had six children: Chad (Surang), Layne (Fay), Lori (Dave) Smith, Bryce (Mary), Tara (Scott) Pearce, and Jed Ryan. He has 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by his wife; a granddaughter, Andrea; and 10 of his 11 siblings. He is survived by his sister, Arda Horrocks. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. No viewing will be held. Family will be available for condolences prior to the service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
