Jerry Edward Albretsen

Jerry met the love of his life and his soulmate Marilee and they married on July 24, 1970. In his youth he spent most summers up Big Cottonwood Canyon working at Maxfield Lodge which his family owned. He loved to hike the mountains with his brother Steve and his Aunt Mims. His first job at a very early age was working at his Uncle Bill Mulvay's grocery store.

Jerry loved to travel with his wife, his life work was traveling to buy early jazz and vocal vinyl records. In their travels they loved to take helicopter rides over mountains and cities even to Catalina Island and Vancouver BC.

Jerry loved his music and there was always music playing in their home. He loved his sons Robert and David. They were the joy in his heart.

Jerry and Mary loved their trips to Acapulco and Hawaii with their dear friends of more than 60 years, Jack and Mary, as well as their Sunday breakfasts at Sharon's Cafe.

Jerry loved his grandchildren and taught them about music. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease his grandchildren, travel with them to National parks and take them fishing. He loved having all his family over for all holidays and birthdays. Jerry and Marilee always had a full Thanksgiving dinner, Jerry's motto was "There's always room for one more."

He will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Marks hospital. The nurses were exceptional in their caring and skills, and the medical staff at the University of Utah Hospital for the Excellent care given to Jerry.

Jerry is survived by Marilee Albretsen, children Robert C. Albretsen (Vicki), Eraine Albretsen, former daughter-in-law, as well as twelve grandchildren; Ginnie (Juan) Montoya, Johnathan (Candace) Albretsen (Deceased) Amanda (Mick’l) Scadden, Nathan Albretsen, Josh (Jillian) Albretsen, Matthew Albretsen, Zackary (Jeweleen) Albretsen.

Seven great-grandchildren; Marcel (Bella), Angel (Jim), Zayne (Carlos) Nevaeh, Haley and Morgan Albretsen, Archer Scadden, Nalani Albretsen, Kathy Oliver and Elliott Albretsen.

Six great-great grandchildren; Marcel Jr., Adrien, Mikka, Meilani, Kehlani, and Hezekiah Montoya.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Virginia, brother Steve Albretsen, son David T. Albretsen and grandson Jonathan Albretsen.

A Celebration of life will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel located at 3401 South Highland Drive, on July 31, 2:00 pm, with a viewing at 12:45 pm. He will be interred at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
