

On June 23, 2026, our husband, father and grandfather, Jerry Lynn Neese, passed away peacefully after a happy life of 95 years. Jerry was born in Ruthven, Iowa on January 7, 1931 to Roy and Helen Neese. He enlisted in the Navy at age 18 and served on the USS Perry in the Atlantic Fleet. He married Elizabeth Chase in 1957. Jerry received a BSEE degree from Iowa State University. He worked as an electrical engineer and executive for the Unisys corporation for over 40 years. After retiring from Unisys in 1994 he transitioned to a second career with the Utah Transit Authority as a System Engineer, participating in the design and construction of the TRAX light rail and FrontRunner commuter rail lines in the Salt Lake City area.
In 1988, Jerry married Jeannine Husted. Jerry and Jeannine enjoyed traveling, participating in many educational travel programs in the U.S. and Europe. Jerry was an active hiker, backpacker, and mountain climber. Among dozens of expeditions, he climbed the three tallest peaks in the lower 48 states: Mt. Whitney in California, Mt. Elbert in Colorado, and Mt. Ranier in Washington. Jerry survived multiple bouts with cancer starting in 2000. He has very high regard for the medical staff at the University of Utah Hospital’s Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic.
Jerry is survived by his wife Jeannine, their children Carol Neese, David Neese, Jon Neese, Jere Neese, David Husted, and Jennifer Barber, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, 7/1/26 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City from 5 pm to 7 pm and on Thursday 7/2/26 at 10 am with a graveside service at 11am.
