John W Jenkins

John was born on February 6, 1945 to Dr. and Mrs. Harold C. Jenkins. He is survived by his brother, Harold C. Jenkins, Jr. and predeceased by his sister, Mitzi Felton Jenkins. He grew up in the wild-west town of Bingham Canyon; he then attended East High School in Salt Lake City and after school he immediately embarked on a life of exploits and exploration. “Jenks”, as he was known, had a quick sense of humor and was always up for a fun-loving adventure.

He was very well-known in the Park City Resort area where he excelled as a Ski Instructor and was featured in the Documentary Ski movie “Get Hot”. As a proficient fishing guide, he established life-long relationship with his clients and was intimately familiar with a multitude of rivers throughout the mountain west. In Park City he could often be found in the bar that bore his name “Pop Jenks” or in “Adolphs” where he hung a picture of his father skiing in the 1930’s.

Always up for a fun-loving adventure, John spent several years and traveled the world as a crew member on a Class-A Open-Ocean Racing Yacht. Continuing his love of the outdoors, he then traveled to Nepal where he engaged in serious trekking in the Himalayas and drove a golf ball off the summit of one of the world’s highest peaks.

John was a person of unusual and multifaceted talents. With his easy-going manner and fun loving spirit, he forged friendships around the world. While he was able, he lived life to the fullest. A celebration of his life will be held in Park City, Utah at a future date.
