

John Macdonald, Jr., age 84, peacefully passed from this life into eternity in his home with his family on Saturday, March 14, 2026 in Orem, Utah. From birth (Oct 15, 1941) to the present, he has blessed the lives of others with love, kindness, and service. He was born in El Paso, Texas to John Macdonald, Sr. and Ellawee Locke, later adopted by Bessie Ann Jarvis. He was the first of three boys, and then, after the adoption, he was the second of five boys. After graduating from Ysleta High School, he attended and graduated from Brigham Young University, and continued his education at the University of Utah where he earned a master's degree in Social Work (MSW). During his time at BYU, he took some time off from school to serve two and a half years in the Central American Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and spoke fluent Spanish. John worked for over 40 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, JoAnne Jessop Macdonald. He is survived by his second wife, Lanorah Helen Jackson Macdonald (et al), his siblings Duane, Stanley, and Orlan; his children: Caroline (Nathan Briggs), Melanie (Bryce Adamson), John Tres (Sandee), Michelle (Anthony Greco), Scott (Kerri), Michael (Erica), and David (Amy); his 35 grandchildren; and his 12 great-grandchildren. He is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and would remind us all that families are forever. The Viewing will be on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 2-4 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr., Millcreek, Utah. The Graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 1 pm at the Millville/Nibley Cemetery, 250 East 100 North, Millville, Utah.
