12/24/2014 Anne, John Jonkman stopped by our new office late last week and that is when we heard of John's battle with cancer and his passing from this earthly life.  I remember John always having a joke to share whenever I saw him.  I'm sure you must miss him terribly.  You are in our thoughts and prayers (Pebble) In addition I appreciated his kindness, strength of character, and devotion.  These qualities are an inspiration to me and will be memories I cherish about John.  Thought a great loss for now I (we) look forward to meeting again in eternity. (Rob)

The world is the poorer for the loss of John. I didn't know him well, but enough to know he was a person of integrity, good humor, and empathy. I send sympathy to Anne and his family, and pray you will feel the comfort and love of the Spirit as you adjust to life without him.

"To God be the Glory" indeed!  What a wonderful man John was.  We are blessed to have been greeted by him on our visits to Light in Christ church.  And what a role model he was to our grandson's Ian and Jadon Deffenbaugh.  They will always remember the treats (Smarty's) he shared with them on Sundays. Dear Anne & Family:
Attending John's beautiful service at Light in Christ Church, I found myself standing in the midst of giant "redwoods".  Ah, I thought, these must be the Pos family. Tall, strong and a spirit about them such as John always displayed. His tenderness with Anne and his family was heartwarming.
It is difficult to release a family member, and friend such as John was to all of us.  Companionship, confidence and loyalty with an astounding repertoire of corny jokes, sharing the bounty of his garden of eden with everyone and moosing a roll of smartees off of him.
I will miss his towering presence waiting for me to give him his "welcome to church" hug.
Anne and family will continue his legacy of love and acceptance as they have in the past.
My heart senses him in his "garden" at peace with his Lord and God whee we have the comfort of knowing we will see him again...probably gardening.

Dear Pos family,

Just learned of John's passing From Cathy Fischer and wanted to express my thoughts and prayers to your family.  Many happy memories from the years at Redeemer.  That was such a special time for our family. Your family was part of that time. A few summers ago when we were visiting Salt Lake Dick and I were able to have pizza with Jon and a few other guys. Oh my the stories!!!  We loved seeing these young men as adults with families of their own. It was a gift for us but especially Dick. My prayer for you is God's continual strength and love in the days ahead. He is such a faithful God.   Martha Weniger

Dear Anne and family, 
I just heard about John's passing this past Saturday, I am so sorry for your loss.
Every neighborhood has that something special that makes them smile, feel safe and connected. Sometimes it's a tree where children play or a fountain where people meet. For our family, it is you Anne, and John, always smiling, going for an evening walk, hand in hand and John ALWAYS with a joke which you had heard a million times yet still listened and responded to with a smile and laugh. Your back yard shows his passion for nature and is a joy to look at while strolling through the back alley You made me feel at home, as if we were back in a little Holland right here on Laird. I can honestly say my kids and I loved John very much and will miss him terribly. Our thoughts are with you during this hard time but I can't help but smile at the memory of him.

I have not experienced the loss of a parent, however, I would imagine that the grief is beyond anything that I can even begin to imagine.  I do believe that one of the great gifts a parent can leave to a family is the knowledge that all can see how great a person he/she was by the quality of their children.  
This said, John P. Pos was an extra- ordinary man.  To John, Julie, Kelsie, Christopher and the rest of the Pos family, we send our love, thoughts and condolences.

What a honeycomb spirit has temporarily left us! John is a man of deep resolve and quiet, rock-solid confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ Whom he now enjoys "face to face." Our hearts miss him and are with you, Anne and family.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Husband, Father & Opa.  John was such a great man.  He always put a smile on my face every chance he could!  I loved the stories he would share.  What a joy to be around John and his family at Red Canyon Lodge. A sweet man that will deeply be missed. XO

I have so many wonderful memories of John and the Pos family. I spent many Sundays in the beautiful garden that John built. It was an oasis. He saw beauty in everything and everyone. He took amazing photographs of all their travels. He lived a very full and rich life. It's very rare to meet someone so full of goodness and light - John was one of those people. I will miss his typical greeting, "Well, how is Ranooshk?" I will miss the many jokes; I will miss seeing him light up when seeing his grandchildren.

His beautiful legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.

To the Pos Family, I know what a great loss this is for you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hold each other close and give each other courage and love.

There are so many good things to say about John I just don't know where to start!!!

First, I would like to send condolences and our deepest sympathy, in this time of loss, to Anne & the entire Pos family! 

Secondly, I want to share a quick story that John once told me. At the time I didn't understand what he meant. It took all of 3-4 years to sink in and when I understood what Mr. Pos was talking about, it changed me and made me a better man!

He said, "Even The Flying Crow will surely catch a worm!"

And, I took this as, everyone gets lucky once in a while but if your consistent, stick to the values you believe, have faith in something bigger than yourself and always act with upmost integrity, you won't have to depend on food dropping from the sky! Your plate will be full!!!

It is amazing how even the smallest conversations can cause the biggest changes in people. I am grateful and blessed to have know Mr. Pos. His Soul always shines so bright! You could just feel the love in the room when John walked in, always a true Gentlemen! 

Lastly, to the grandkids. Your Opa loved you all so much! His eyes would light up whenever he saw you, it was beautiful to watch him around you. He was so very proud of you! 

John was so much to so many. I am just thankful for the time I was able to spend learning from this great man!

Such a sweet man, always had a sweet silly joke or story to tell me before church! He always had a sweet for all the kids in his pocket. His smile lit up a room when he walked in. I know he is walking with his Lord...I will miss him! Love you too Ann. Loves, Robbie and Ann Van Horssen
