

Juanita Mae Hallman Pack passed away in Cedar City, Utah on July 23. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT on May 11, 1923 to John and Magda Hallman, the second daughter in a family of three girls. She attended Stewart School, East High School and the University of Utah. Juanita enjoyed travel, books, art, antiques, fashion, classical music, and theatre, and was a devoted volunteer serving at Primary Children's Hospital, the Salt Lake City Tourist Bureau, the Utah State Capital, etc. She worked for many years in the Liberal Education Department at the University of Utah. Juanita was an exceptional friend and had many lifelong friendships as a result. She was a member of World Study Group, an educational study group, for decades. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Juanita had a particular fondness for the Relief Society organization and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. Our wonderful, elegant mother was the definition of love. Above all she leaves a legacy of hope, courage and love to her family and friends whom she deeply loved and for whom her absence will be sorely felt. Juanita is survived by her four children, Mitzi McLeroy of Cedar City, UT, Dennis Pack (Vicky) of Aptos, CA, Diane Marshall (Scott) of Cary, NC, and Jane Butcher (Blake) of Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren, Traci and Shawn McLeroy, Tara Leavitt, Spencer and Tyler Marshall, Erik, Nicholas and Jake Butcher; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew McLeroy, Ryleigh, Kennedy and Emerson Leavitt, Olive, Harrison and Mabel Marshall, and Aston Marshall; sister, Shirley Ickes of Lubbock, TX; and her special nephew, Mack Rideout of Salt Lake City.A graveside service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, July 29 at 10:00am.
